Starter
Share Flower Trinket Dish Power Point. Discuss the parts of the flower and examples of ceramic flower dishes. Recap learning from last week.
Use clay or make salt dough following instructions.
Activity
Have plastic bowls ready lined with cling film
Warm up the clay using activities from last week, use a few drops of water to help soften it.
Make a flower trinket dish - Make a large flat circle as a support for the flower. Carefully place this within the cling film lined bowl. Create a smaller circle for the pollen centre of the flower. Use the cutters or petal templates to cut out playdough petals. Use a tool to gently indent the clay with crossed lines and use a drop of water (on the surfaces being joined together) to join each petal to the base. Gently squash and pinch the edge of the petals to the pollen clay circle. Once the flower shape is complete, use the tools to add further detail – faint lines on the petals, or dot marks for the pollen.
Explore: With support use the rolling pin to flatten the clay and use cutters or templates to create flower parts.
Hard: Add further details such as another layer of petals, or create leaves around the edge of the flower.
