Activity 2

Practise letter formation and writing cvc words using letter families and cvc word resource. Extend pupils by encouraging pupils to sound letters using phonic knowledge and try to blend sounds together to read cvc words.

 

Activity 3

Pupils to use pencil control workbook to develop fine motor skills and writing pattern formation. Pupils to try and copy a writing pattern.

Writing and Reading

Pupils can continue using some of the phonics activities visited and practise forming their letters, CVC words or a simple sentence. Pupils can trace letters and words if needed. Pupils can also practise writing their name.

Pupils can engage in practising their reading and books skills. To engage in a story talk about what happened? Or what think might happen? Identify key items in the text. Encourage pupils to answer questions about the text. Pupils to explore texts looking at pictures, holding correct way and turning pages. Pupils to sit and listen with engagement to a story of choice.

Phonics

 

Please continue with phonics activities from last week I have also added a CVC initial letter activity to complete to support phase 2 phonics.

 

Continue with letter and word formation, asses phonic knowledge using flash cards.

 

Please pick an appropriate activity. Continue with activities using week 1 resources.

 

Pupils to engage in phonics learning introduce phonics by using the alphabet phonics 2 song on YouTube and use the CVC blending songs.

 

Activity 1

Sensory based phonics, pupils can practise their letter formation in sensory based materials if you have any in a tray, focusing on S A T, P I N making initial sounds. Use finger paints to mark make and make letter shapes. Pupils can also use phonics play website under resources and phase 1 sound activities. Look at objects linked to each sound, use S A T P I N sorting sounds activity for guidance.

Activity 2

Phase 2 phonics. Use phase 2 flash cards from attached resource in week 1 to practise phase 2 sounds. Pupils to complete attached eye spy phase 2 object searches. What objects can they spy for each letter sound. Pupils can also use the phase 2 caption matching, Pupils to be supported to read captions and identify the matching picture developing comprehension. Continue forming letters using the handwriting book included in attached resources from week 1 select a few pages continue each week.

Activity 3

Phase 3 phonics. Use phase 3 flash cards to practise phase 3 sounds from week 1 resources. Practise forming letters using the handwriting book included in attached resources from week 1 select a few pages continue each week.  Look at sounds ch and sh sound card what objects can you find using these sounds, Use the sorting towers resource to attach to bricks and sort sh and ch objects to correct sound. continue with sh and ch introduce th and ng and sort these objects to correct towers. (Use sorting towers resource from last week)

 Activity 4

Phase 5 phonics. Practise Phase 5 phonemes using flash cards. Continue working on real and nonsense words. Pupils to also use the Phase 5 sentence and word matching game. Pupils to use phase 5 phonics picture activity. Use sound knowledge to write correct word in each space. How many sounds in each word?

Maths

LO:  To develop number skills

 

For this week I have included resources to support number skills and a shape activity to support shape skills. Pupils to practise their counting of a variety of objects supporting one to one correspondence. Encourage counting in a number of ways, what number can pupils count up to? Pupils could also play a number hunt. Hide numbers around the house once they find them put them in order or find a number of items, for example can you bring me five socks to develop knowledge of quantity. Pupils can alos be extended by adding two number of items together.

Please use supporting resources to develop skills. Pupils can also practise writing their numbers. 0 to 5, 0 to 10, 0 to 20.

 

Activity 1

Pupils to explore number through number rhythms e.g. five little ducks, Pupils to develop number recognition use caterpillar matching activity. Pupils to develop knowledge of number and formation by experiencing writing numbers in sensory materials with support using their finger.

Activity 2

Pupils to use number recognition to 10 activity cards to identify correct quantities and be aware of quantities that have more or less, e.g. 1 and 5 which has more or is bigger? Pupils to explore counting two sets of objects, how many do you have all together? Changing quantities. This can be done with counters or objects you may have at home.

Activity 3

Pupils to use number bonds to 10 activity sheets to think about ways of making 10. How many more is needed to make 10? Can you write this as a number sentence? Pupils can also look at the missing numbers sheet and thinking about what numbers are missing. Can pupils identify numbers to 50?

Activity 4

Pupils to develop knowledge of shape and identify shape of objects using shape matching activity.   Pupils can go on a shape hunt at home how many different  2d shapes can you find?

 

Friday

 

Chinese New Year.

 

Pupils to continue to think about Chinese New Year, watch you tube video on Chinese zodiac years from CBeebies about the race. What animals can you remember from the story? What happened? Who won the race?  Explain that each year the animal changes and this year is the year of the OX.Use colouring picture of the OX.

 

Activity 1

Pupils to find out what Chinese animal they are from their birth year and create this animal. Pupils to use the Chinese numbers to copy numbers for their birth year.

 

Activity 2.

Use the animal stick puppets to recreate the dragon race story.

 

Activity 3

Pupils explore Chinese dancing dragons used to celebrate Chinese New Year. Watch videos on YouTube on dancing dragons listen to traditional music. Pupils then to create their own dancing dragon using attached template.
