Romeo & Juliet is a play that was written by William Shakespeare. It is a tragedy, which means it has a sad ending. Potions are very important in Romeo & Juliet.
Reading Task
Read Romeo & Juliet with an adult. An adult can read it to you if you find it tricky. There are 6 chapters, try one chapter a day.
After each chapter, talk to your adult and answer these questions:
- What is happening?
- How are the characters feeling?
- What would you do if you were one of the characters?
Writing Task
The important chapter that you will need to read is chapter 5. Write a newspaper report using the worksheet. You are a reporter and you have just found Juliet. You don’t know she is only sleeping but you can see the potion bottle next to her so you know something strange is happening. Write a report about what you found and what you think might happen next.
Art Task
Draw a picture of the scene when Romeo finds Juliet on the bed with the potion bottle beside her. Think of the emotions – how are they feeling? Make the faces show how they feel.
You can use pencils, felts or paints to colour.
