Today we are going to use adjectives to describe the Chameleon. Do you remember what an adjective is or can you give me an example? An adjective is a describing word.
Activity
Group 1: Match and stick CiP symbols of animals on the Chameleon eg flamingo on the wings.
Group 2: To use a word bank to copy or dictate to an adult 2 sentences to describe the mixed-up Chameleon.
Group 3: Use phonic knowledge to write up to 3 sentences to describe the mixed up Chameleon.
Challenge
Draw your own mixed up animal and write a sentence about it.

Activity
Group 1: handle objects of different weights. Watch the reaction of the children when the objects are handled- does your child react differently to different weights when there is a big contrast?
Group 2: experiment with balance scales and different objects around the house. What happens when a shoe is put in
Group 3 – experiment with a range of scales, balance, kitchen, bathroom etc.
Talk about what happens with the scales. Why is that pan moving down? Why do the numbers get bigger? Which is heavier? Which is lighter? How do you know?

LO: To be able to recognise the emotion of jealousy
Starter
In our PSHE lessons we have been focusing on our feelings, using the zones of regulation. We have looked at using the zones of regulation colours to help us to identify how we are feeling and strategies that we can use to help us.
Today we are going to look at the jealousy which can be found in the yellow or sometimes red zone. Let’s read through the ‘Feeling Jealous’ power point (below) and we can talk about the things we can do to help us calm and return to the green zone.
Activity
Draw a scene in the photo frame of a time when you felt jealous or can you draw a green-eyed monster.
Challenge
Make a list of things you can do to help you overcome jealousy.

We are going to think about how the chameleon was feeling.
Activity
Have Zones of Emotional Regulation chart to hand to refer to (below).
Group 1 – have a picture of a chameleon at the start of the book – brainstorm ideas of how the chameleon might be feeling. How do we know that?
Group 2 – picture of mixed up chameleon half way through book - brainstorm ideas of how the chameleon might be feeling. How do we know that?
Group 3 – picture of chameleon at the end under rainbow - brainstorm ideas of how the chameleon might be feeling. How do we know that?
Complete all three groups. Use PECs and zone of regulation chart to support.
Challenge
Can you talk about a time when you felt jealous of somebody else? Why did you feel jealous?

Activity
There is a competition with a prize for each class for the best Valentine’s Day card. Let’s think about the different cards and designs we may have seen. Brainstorm different things we could put on our card, the shape of the card, 2D/3D. How could we make it 3D?

LO: To read my writing to the class
Starter
We have been working on the Mixed-up Chameleon by Eric Carle. Today we are going to think about the animal we would like to be and why. We will then read our work to our family. You may even want to record you reading your work so that it can be sent to your teacher.
Activity
Choose an animal that you would like to be. Can you write a sentence why you would like to be that animal?
Activity 1: to draw/colour a picture of their favourite animal, mark make under the picture and vocalise about it
Activity 2: to hear the initial letter sounds of words in your sentence. Adults to support.
Activity 3: use their phonic knowledge to write and read familiar sounds in their work.
Challenge
Can you draw yourself with the added features of your chosen animal eg jaws of a crocodile!
Life skills
LO: To learn about using money.
Starter
When we want something, we can’t just go to the shops and pick it up; we need to use money to buy it. Different items cost different amounts of money. Some items are very expensive and we have to save up money to buy them. Have you ever saved up your birthday money to buy something?

LO: To look at a food chain
Starter
This term we are looking at animals, reptiles in particular. We have learnt that animals need food and water to live. Today we are going to look at the types of food that animals eat. Sometimes there is a link between sources of food – this is called a food chain. Let’s learn further by reading the KS ‘What is a food chain?’ Power point (below).
Activity
Group 1: Complete the food chain sorting pictures game
Group 2: make a mind map of the different types of food that reptiles eat and drink. You may want to research on the internet to help you find out the information.
Challenge
Draw a food chain including reptiles
