Starter We are going to make some Christmas treats. These are no bake and can be decorated with marshmallows or other sprinkles of your choice. Please support your child in following the recipe and measuring out the ingredients.

Starter We have been learning how to use adjectives (describing words) to make our writing more interesting. Please share the Power Point Expanded Noun Phrases to remind your child how we use adjectives in sentences. We are going to practice these skills with Christmas themed activities.

Starter We will be making a Christmas card using card, scrap paper and other craft materials you may have at home. Print out the instructions for making a Christmas Tree card and the template. Support your child in following the instructions and using the template to draw around.

Starter Share the Addition and Subtraction Word Problems Power Point. Help you child work through the problem examples. They will need to write a number sentence to solve the problem. E.g. 6 + 7 = Then try the activity below.

LO: To be able to retell the Christmas story
Starter Recap on the Christian Christmas nativity story by sharing the Nativity Power Point.
Activities Lower ability – Match the labels to the correct part of the nativity scene. Middle ability – Cut out the pictures and stick them in the correct order so the story makes sense. Higher ability – Write a sentence for each picture. Don’t forget to use a capital letter and a full stop.
History
LO: To begin to understand why food was rationed during the war.
Starter Share the Power Point Rationing with your child and discuss why it was necessary to ration food during the war. Next look at the appropriate level Rationing Information Sheet and read through with your child. Then look at the questions and encourage them to answer them verbally.
Activities Very Easy – Print out the Rationing Information Sheet CIP version and the Comprehension Questions CIP version. Lower Ability – Print out sheet 1 and 2 of the Rationing Information Sheet and sheet 1 of Rationing Comprehension Questions. LO: To be able to recall the times tables.
Starter We have been practicing our times tables this term. We have learned to use multiple addition to help us. E.g. 3 x 2 = written as 2 + 2 + 2 =. Your child may need to use a 100 square to help them solve the multiplications. This has been included in the resources.

LO: To practise coordination and balance.
Starter The following video is a fitness version of the 12 days of Christmas. This involves arm and leg movements. If your child is unable to do the leg movements. They can join in by doing the arm movements. This will help them develop control and coordination.

Activities Lower Ability – Reading the time to the hour and half hour. Middle Ability – Reading the time to the hour, half hour and quarter hour. Higher Ability – Reading the time to the nearest five minutes. Challenge: Reading time to the nearest minute.

LO: To know what each digit represents in a number.
Starter This term we have been learning about place value. The children have learned the value of each digit e.g. Thousands, Hundreds, Tens and Units (Higher Ability) Hundreds, Tens and Units (Middle Ability) and Tens and Units (Lower Ability). Below are some colouring activities to practise these skills.

Starter We are going to write a letter to Santa. Activities Lower ability – Print off page 2. Encourage your child to use the words around the edges of the page to help them. Encourage your child to think of their own ideas.
All abilities: remind your child to read through their sentences checking that the sentences make sense and they have used capital letters and full stops.
