Food Technology
LO: To be able to combine ingredients
Starter We are going to practise our spreading, mixing and cutting skills to make a Tuna Sandwich. Activity Discuss what is needed to make a Tuna Sandwich. Prepare the ingredients and equipment needed. Support children to safely use a knife to spread the butter on the bread. Then Then mix the Tuna with mayonnaise in a bowl. Spread the Tuna onto one piece of the bread. Encourage them to cut the sandwich in half. They can eat their sandwich or put it in a sandwich bag and refrigerate for lunch time.

English LO: To be able to write a menu
Starter Re-read page 16 of Winnie Spells Trouble and talk about what she tried to give the children for lunch (fresh worm sandwiches, crunchy cockroach toasties and cactus cola). What impact did this have on the children? Explore the use of alliteration (first letter of each word is the same) for the food items. What affect does this have?
Activities All abilities You will be writing a menu for Winnie’s dinner. Share write the ‘starter’ part of the menu with the children. Ensure each food item has a descriptive word using alliteration. E.g. sizzling spiders. Try and think of 3 choices for starters, main courses and dessert. The more revolting the better! You can use the template provided in the resources or you can design your own menu.

Life Skills
LO: To know how to sort clothing for washing
Starter As we grow up we need to take learn how to take care of our clothes. Using the washing sequence cards talk about how we wash clothes using a washing machine. Talk about how we sort washing and read the washing labels.
Activity Help your child sort the washing according to the washing sorting cards (see resources). Then look at the labels and talk about what the symbols mean. Support your child in putting a load of washing on, selecting the correct wash cycle and temperature.
